Seed Garlic

garlic.jpg

Garlic is a very rewarding plant to grow. It’s relatively easy, comes up so early and green in the spring when everything else is still brown and grey. With the mulch it doesn’t require much weeding and you can harvest both the scapes and the heads.

We sell our largest, best heads of garlic for seed. This year we have three varieties for sale, all at $20.00/lb.

All varieties have been tested and no nematodes or pathogens were found. As with everything we produce, our seed garlic is certified organic by MOFGA.

Growing Information

We plant our garlic in mid October into beds that have had compost or a slow release fertilizer applied to them. We plant the cloves, pointy end up, six inches apart in rows one foot apart about an inch down into the soil. After planting we mulch heavily with straw. Harvest the scapes in early July and the garlic heads in August.
